What if it rains?
If you can’t reschedule, your entire deposit will be refunded. We’re constantly watching the weather, and will make sure that if a cancellation is necessary, it’s within the timeframe you’d need to cancel catering. Our preferred vendors are super-accommodating with regards to last minute weather cancellations.

Can I bring kids?
While little ones are always welcome aboard Kelpie, they must be supervised by an adult. Sailing Kelpie requires 100% of the crew’s attention, and we enforce a strict no-wandering while underway policy to ensure absolute safety. While you’re welcome to look after your own wee-ones, we’re happy to assist in arranging for a caretaker to come along for your sail. Just let us know upon booking.
Is it suitable for elderly folks?
Kelpie is quite stable and fine for our older guests, although she may not be well suited to anyone with severe mobility issues. Once aboard, you must have use of your legs in order to brace yourself while underway and to descend the companionway to the head (toilette). While the crew is strong and capable, we want to be sure our guests are as comfortable as possible.
Is there a bathroom?
Of course! And there’s nothing complicated or scary about it.
Is there a place to change?
Yes, there are 2 staterooms available for changing.
Can we play music onboard?
Absolutely! You may connect to our system via bluetooth.
Is there WIFI available?
Because we won’t lose cellular service, it is not necessary to have WIFI aboard.
Can we bring our own provisions?
We’ve got options for every type of group, from kids to folks with special dietary needs and everything in between. Chances are you know your group well, but please don’t hesitate to ask Shannon for recommendations and to see Kelpie‘s decadent menus before your sail.
Do we need to bring napkins, cutlery, etc?
No. Just the actual food and drink. We’re well-stocked with linen napkins and polished silverware.
Is glass okay?
For wine and beer bottles, yes. For drinking glasses to be used on deck, we provide stemless wineglasses you’d swear were glass but are actually acrylic. They even match our crystal serving ware 🙂
How many guests can the yacht accomodate comfortably?
While Kelpie is certified by the USCG for 24 passengers, we find 16-18 to be the magic number.
What can we do in each time frame; how should we choose between 2.5, 4, 6 & 8 hours for our charter?
It’s really up to you! Each time frame allows for sailing, light bites and swim time. Just share your desired itinerary with the captain before departing, as that will determine our sailing route.
What is the tipping policy?
A 20% service charge is automatically added to your charter fee, as stated on the rate sheet. While some guests do prefer to add to that for exceptional service, it’s always appreciated but never expected. You’re welcome to request an additional gratuity be added to your balance, or simply give directly to the crew.
