For nearly a century, Kelpie has embodied the elegance and romance of a bygone era. Best known for her private sails in the Hamptons, she now spends the winter in the beautiful harbor of Gustavia, St. Barthélemy.
Surrounded by some of the world’s most extraordinary yachts, Kelpie offers something altogether different: the intimacy, character, and timeless elegance of a privately owned classic vessel.
For a select number of occasions throughout the winter season, Captain Shannon welcomes guests aboard for private cocktail gatherings, beautifully appointed evenings, and celebrations in the heart of Gustavia.
A Note from the Captain
When I acquired Kelpie eight years ago, I had a vision of one day bringing her to St. Barth for the winter months. After years of summers spent sailing in the Hamptons, seeing her at anchor in Gustavia is the realization of something I had imagined from the very beginning.
Kelpie is my home, my passion, and a reflection of everything I love about life on the water.
I hadn’t originally intended to offer private gatherings during my time here. But the idea of sharing this setting with a small number of guests felts like a natural extension of what we’ve created in the Hamptons.
This is a more personal side of Kelpie, welcoming guests into my own little corner of paradise, where every detail reflects my taste and the way I love to entertain.

A personal Approach to Entertaining
There is something wonderfully intimate about entertaining aboard a classic yacht.
The glow of polished bronze, beautifully varnished wood, crisp white linens, vintage crystal, candlelight, and fresh flowers. Champagne poured as the sun sets over Gustavia, with the masts of neighboring yachts silhouetted against the evening sky.
The Captain’s Table is an expression of my personal approach to entertaining, where the smallest details are considered and the atmosphere is every bit as important and the menu.
Rather than offering an extensive catering catalogue, I have chosen a small selection of menus inspired by the things I personally love to serve.
From champagne and caviar to beautifully presented hors d’oeuvres, every element is intended to complement the setting without overwhelming it.
Our approach remains consistent with the traditions established aboard Kelpie in the Hamptons: exceptional ingredients, thoughtful presentation, and gracious, understated service.

An Evening Aboard Kelpie
Moored in the heart of Gustavia Harbor, Kelpie offers a beautiful setting for champagne, cocktails, and conversation, surrounded by the island’s most celebrated waterfront establishments and some of the world’s most magnificent yachts.
Guests are welcomed aboard to enjoy carefully selected hors d’oeuvres, attentive service, and the unmistakable atmosphere of a classic yacht.
As the evening settles over Gustavia, the lights of the waterfront and neighboring yachts reflect across the water, creating a setting that is at once lively, intimate, and distinctly St. Barth.

New Year’s Eve in Gustavia
At the Heart of the World’s Most Celebrated Yachting Destination
Few places in the world are as coveted for New Year’s Eve as St. Barth. Each December, Gustavia Harbor becomes the gathering place for an extraordinary fleet of yachts from around the world. The islands restaurants, beach clubs, and waterfront establishments host some the season’s most anticipated celebrations.
At midnight, fireworks illuminate the harbor as the yachts sound their horns to welcome the New Year. It is a remarkable St. Barth tradition, and one best appreciated from the water, surrounded by the fleet itself. Rest assured the captain will fire Kelpie‘s cannon as well 🙂
For New Year’s Eve, Kelpie will be available for two exclusive private gatherings in Gustavia Harbor. Champagne, caviar, and a carefully selected menu of hors d’oeuvres will be served aboard, with candlelight, vintage crystal, and the warmth of Kelpie’s beautifully appointed decks providing an intimate contrast to the celebrations unfolding throughout the harbor.
At midnight, guests can enjoy the fireworks and the extraordinary spectacle of Gustavia welcoming the New Year.
